Welcome, I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Dr. G. Katie Dashtban, a Clinical Health Psychologist offering personalized, high-quality mental health care to professionals, high achievers, and women navigating stress, burnout, or life transitions. I provide both in-person and virtual sessions for clients in Ontario, Canada and California, USA in English or Farsi.
If you’re looking for a warm, highly trained psychologist who understands both the drive for excellence and the cost of always holding it together, I’d be honored to work with you.
I use a dynamic, integrative approach centered around two powerful evidence-based models: TEAM-CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
TEAM-CBT Developed by Dr. David Burns, M.D is a structured, collaborative, and results-oriented approach to cognitive behavioral therapy. It includes four key elements.
Unlike traditional therapy, TEAM-CBT focuses on identifying hidden internal resistance, those “yes, but…” thoughts that can slow progress and work swiftly to remove them.
In addition, I draw from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), a powerful framework that helps you stop fighting your thoughts and feelings and instead make space for them, while moving in the direction of your values. ACT is especially helpful for people who feel stuck or overwhelmed by perfectionism, anxiety, or self-doubt. It teaches skills like mindfulness, self-compassion, and committed action, helping you build a more flexible, meaningful life.
TEAM-CBT Four Key Elements are:
Testing: Measuring your symptoms at the start & end
of every session to track progress in real time.
Empathy: Building a strong, trusting relationship where
you feel truly heard and understood.
Agenda Setting: Making sure we’re always working on
what matters most to you, not following a preset formula.
Methods: Drawing from over 150 proven techniques
to help you challenge negative thoughts, break unhealthy
patterns, & build lasting emotional resilience.

I trained under Dr. David Burns at Stanford for four years and hold the highest TEAM-CBT certification, which guides my therapeutic work.
I strictly follow the No Surprises Act, which means you’ll never be billed for a service you haven’t been informed about in advance. My rates are aligned with prevailing standards for highly qualified psychologists in Ontario and California and are reviewed periodically to reflect economic conditions.
A: Yes. I provide a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to help determine whether we are a good fit. If we choose to move forward, your initial intake session (50 minutes, in person or virtual) is usually scheduled within 1–2 weeks.
During this session, I’ll gather a thorough biopsychosocial history and current symptom profile covering emotional, physical, and psychological concerns. We’ll also engage in collaborative goal setting and determine the best level of clinical care for your needs.
A six-week course of treatment provides the minimum “dose” of therapeutic intervention needed to begin creating meaningful change and improvement in symptoms. Much like a course of antibiotics, where the right dose and timing are essential to restoring health, therapy also requires consistency and structure to be effective. In many cases, we recommend a six-week treatment plan consisting of double sessions (100 minutes each, once per week). This format allows us to make steady progress without losing momentum or spending valuable time “catching up” at the start of each session.
