Overview

Feeling Good Therapy and Training Center was established to promote the quality of psychotherapy delivered to clients. Our clinicians offer their rigorous training, years of clinical experience, and personal compassion to clients at our center. Because the center is committed to education, therapists here continue to hone their skills in training and consultation, and they participate in outreach through mental health activities in the community. We are dedicated to serving our clients using an evidence-based practice and making our services accessible.

Children and Adolescents:

At the Feeling Good Therapy & Training Center, some of our therapists serve the younger population of children ages 5 - 12. Therapeutic options enhance the toolbox of methods offered to our younger clients and include techniques from play therapy, narrative therapy, and emotion and behavior skills training.

For adolescents, privacy and respect are very important at the outset of the therapeutic relationship. We also recognize that it is important for the client to want help for a problem, since a pre-teen or teenager who is made to attend therapy generally does not predict a positive outcome for therapeutic helpfulness. Thus our therapists prioritize a relationship of mutual respect and collaboration to work toward effective and desired outcomes with adolescent clients.

Couples:

It has been said that relationship conflicts are exceptionally damaging to people's well-being. Couples initially find comfort in each other and when conflict arises, they sometimes face ultimate destruction. Sadly, most couple therapy approaches fail, not because the approach is poor, but because the individual member of the couple does not get to recognize the role they play in creating their very own dissatisfaction in the relationship. Even when recognizing their own contribution to the problem, couples may not find it possible or worthwhile to change themselves. Couples therapy at FGTTC is particularly geared toward helping each individual member of the couple to reach personal happiness.

Areas covered include:

  • Issues related to Infidelity, estrangement, broken communications, disappointments, fear, anxiety and depression, hurt feelings and hopelessness
  • Preventing divorce, re-igniting emotional connectedness, love and intimacy
  • Facilitating divorce, when that is the best choice, in the most peaceful and amicable way
  • Help in fair division of assets and co-parenting
  • Divorce mediation

End of Life Issues:

Aging is often associated with a negative connotation, and yet there is nothing more natural and predictable than aging. Graceful aging, filled with joy and celebration of one's most valuable gift—one's life—is the approach that is emphasized.

Areas covered include:

  • Memory decline, mood and anxiety issues
  • Financial decisions: will and trust writing, consolidating assets, buying and selling family homes, unwanted moves
